RE: 6.0 Ford PowerStroke longevity/reliablility

here are my facts not opinions; fulltime traveler and truck driven daily. I tow a 15,000lb+/_ 39ft. Jayco 5th-4 cross country trips this year, not to mention 4000+ miles North and South trips. I do not baby, but don't go over 70mph. well maintained per specs/stock. Replaced tension pulley/belt. pushing 70,000 miles runs like a top, up,down, level with plenty of power. 06 F250 6.0 TD supercab 6' bed 4X4 last cross country trip, I weighed in at 23300lb. (prefer not to do that, but the truck handled it). LIFE IS LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATES,SO JUST HAVE FUN...

RE: MH Crashes in Buffalo Wy.

as breakfluid overheats it picks up condensation; if you get enough water(condensation) in the fluid it will not work. this has happened to me. and i have breakfluid changed yearly.a good shop can test water containt.

RE: Are tank flushers illegal?

i'am a construction super and UBC cert. (building inspector) and yes, technically it is in violation; if you are using potable water with no backflow device( like on your house hose bib) this could potentially contaminate water source. all these devices(flushers) should have a backflow device. you can add one from any home depot/lowes if you are concerned now. we all should be.

RE: How to Care for 5r Left in the TX Sun for 2 Yrs

Nu-finish is a great product, use on 92' alum siding TT twice a year. takes oxidation off without too much elbo grease.

RE: surge protector

i would think most people wouldn't even know when and if a power surge caused appliance failure. i have seen surge protectors for sale but expensive and they simply plug into the exterior line. thats alot of money to be just hanging outside. any inline permenant surge protectors out there?

RE: Commercial truck wash for RV...problems???

we have, do not recomend an automatic brush system. Beacon @ most truck stops just used high pressure wands which wasn't that good(for the money, about $1.00-1.50 per foot) found acouple private places that hand brushed and pressure wands, that was great. we full time and do not have much choice,to get that personal touch. good luck.

RE: Buy ~10,000 pound Non-slide 5th?

I wish i had pics of my 1992 30' Sandpiper by Cobra. they were bought by Forest River. NO slides and it was great. kit up front, walk around queen bed in rear, ton of storage,tub/shower. More important it did not feel like that tunnel that most(all) no sides feel like. we looked for a year and stumbled on to this one,got a great deal $7000.

RE: Went shopping for a newer truck today, aarrrgg!

I had a 99 V-10 a got about 10 mpg in tow 30' TT. small increase not in tow. i traded for 2001 7.3 and later found out my V10 could pull more. 7.3 got about 11-12 mpg. go to trailer life tow guide and check, this years were very confusing as to tow limits. with the price of diesel now i would get V-10.

RE: what slowing down did for me.

i too have slowed down this recent trip from CA to PA. Usually get an average of 10mpg in tow. Tow/haul mode needs to run about 57-58mph to kick into OD but when maintaining that speed mpg rose to 12-13. PRM around 18-1900. you really can't compare $ saved to time saved( about acouple of mins.)

RE: New Jersey RV.Net Members - Let's introduce ourselves

Born and raised in Lyndhurst,N.J., passed 20 years in CA. Could not find anyone to sell me a slice of pizza let alone real Italian,Chinese food without putting a CA. spin on everting. I gain 10lbs. everytime I go home. I loved the topic of CA but they can keep their politics and food. And on top of everthing they said I talked funny. Fulltiming now working back on the East Coast, it's good to be home. Oh, wife tells me I was blessed to have meet someone from the East coast that would understand my ways. I still don't know what she means.
